Fabric Trend Spotlight: Patchwork! - Part 2 - Women's Clothing

Let's see where patchwork has been popping up for women's clothing recently:

Cover of Elle Japan, April 2009 (via Moving Hands blog) and Pins & Needles Patchwork Blazer from Urban Outfitters

Plaid madras bikini and shorts from J.Crew

Home Ec. Class: Reversible Wrap Skirt (featuring the Mad Hatter patchwork fabric from Wonderland by MoMo) by Sew Darn Jenny and Handmade Patchwork Hippie Bohemian California Girl Skirt on Etsy by Urban Prairie Girl

I really love the Urban Outfitters blazer. Here are some ideas for making your own version:

Above left: The Frayed Jacket pattern by Favorite Things. The version above is made with fat quarters to give another kind of patchwork look, but you could easily use one of the patchwork fabrics featured below for the Urban Outfitters look. Above right: Butterick 5331 (via SewingPatterns.com) is a cute little jacket pattern designed for cotton fabrics.

Some patchwork apparel fabrics to consider:

Madras Plaid Patchwork from Hartwell Designs on Etsy

Patchwork madras from Fabric Hound.

Blue patchwork lawn from Denver Fabrics.

Red, White & Blue Madras Plaid patchwork from The Fabric Fairy.

Okay, not made out of fabric, but they fit the patchwork theme! Patchwork d'Orsay by Manolo Blahnik (via Nieman Marcus)
